갤러리 전문 크리에이터 대미술관이 'IDENTITY' 전시회에 다녀왔어요.
이번 전시는 인사아트센터에서 2025. 09. 03 - 2025. 09. 08까지 전시를 하고 있었어요.
소개
IDENTITY 전시는 시험 아트와 인사 아트 센터의 협업으로 탄생했으며, 대화의 공간으로서 예술이 오늘날의 정체성에 대해 질문하는 플랫폼이 되는 곳입니다. 점점 더 연결되고 변화하는 세상에서, 우리가 우리의 ‘자아’와 ‘소속’을 공동체 속에서 어떻게 이해하고 있는지에 대해 탐구하고자 합니다.
참여하는 예술가들은 다양한 관점과 주제를 탐구하며, 우리를 현재적이고 보편적인 주제로 안내합니다. 주제는 기억과 시간, 우리의 형성과 문화적 뿌리, 그리고 현재의 정체성과 기대 사이의 긴장, 그리고 독특한 문화적 혼합 속에서의 만남이 어떻게 우리를 변화, 진화 그리고 풍부하게 만드는지 탐구하는 흥미의 공간입니다.
전시는 서로 연결된 두 개의 섹션으로 구성되어 있으며, 각각은 같은 근본 질문 - 오늘날 우리는 누구인가? 그리고 변화하는 세계 속 우리의 정체성은 어떻게 진화하는가? -에 대한 독특한 통찰을 제공합니다.
이 프로젝트는 무샤(Musa)의 지속적인 사연도 반영합니다. 무샤는 오랜 기간 다양한 나라와 배경을 가진 예술가들과 협력해왔습니다. IDENTITY는 이러한 노력을 자연스럽게 이어받아, 서로 다른 예술적 시각을 모아 상호 이해를 촉진하고 새로운 시각을 열망하는 데 목적이 있습니다.
궁극적으로, 전시는 경험을 제시합니다. 순간적 경험, 복잡성, 기억과 가능성 사이에 존재하는 여러 겹의 자아를 상상하게 하고, 우리를 독특하게 만드는 것의 풍부함과 복잡함을 포용하도록 초대합니다.

존재는 덧없지만 깊은 울림을 지닌 순간들을 통해 밝혀집니다.
어떤 순간은 조용히 지나가고, 어떤 순간은 지워지지 않는 흔적을 남깁니다.
그러한 순간들은 시각적인 메아리가 되어, 사람과 사물을 거부하는 물질과 침묵의 충돌로 남습니다.
이 작품은 ‘되어감’에 대한 사색 속에서 탄생했습니다.
정체성은 우리가 선언하는 것이 아니라, 시간이 지우지 못하는 것,
우리를 변화시키는 것, 끝까지 남아 있는 것에 의해 형성됩니다.
야광 개념과 재료는 긴장과 침식, 그리고 연결을 통해 서서히 형태를 드러내는
하나의 존재감을 이루는 파편들입니다.
자아는 고정된 것이 아니라, 겹겹이 쌓이고, 열리고 있으며,
여전히 해답 없는 상태로 존재합니다.

DOROTHEA VAN DE WINKEL'S
STATEMENT
I lived in the centre of the town of
Oudenaarde (Flanders Belgium), an
historic city renowned for its ancient
hand woven tapestries. I was very
impressed by the skills needed and the
fine art behind this craft. From this
background I started searching and
collecting any information
I could find on materials (wool, silk,....),
the tools, the colours and the patterns. I
wanted to know everything about it, from
design
to realisation.
After a solid education in this art-form
locally at Institute for Textile, Henry
Story, Gent and Royal Academy des
Beaux Arts, Kortrijk later abroad at the
Ecole Nationale d'Art Décoratif
Aubusson France.
I since create my own designs and
weaving cartoons in a modern style
according to my feelings and emotions
of the moment. Starting from a pencil
sketch, in various shades of grey, but
often coloured, the pencil lines are
maintained in the realisation of the
tapestry. They give a personal touch and
familiar feeling to the whole. There are
restrictions, when it comes to weaving a
tapestry, however,
I manage to realise my drawings as close
as possible to the initial design, making
use of meticulously mastered skills.

ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY
The designs of Dorothea Van De
Winkel are abstract. She realises
wall and floor tapestries, which can
be wholly integrated in a house
(colours, form and size).
The realisations can be seen as
living, standing-on-their-own art
objects, or as the centre point,
elementary piece or material for
interior design.
Furthermore, tapestry can be used
in modern buildings for muting
sound transmission and it adds a
feeling of warmth.
Dorothea was an independent
textile artist-designer from
October 1, 1985, to September
25, 2022. She has managed her
own gallery "Galerij Theaxus" from
September 25, 1992, to September
25, 2022, in Kwaremont, East-
Flanders, Belgium.
Her new studio "Art Theaxus"
opened in June of 2023 in
Oudenaarde, East-Flanders,
with the possibility to visit the
studio, where the hand-woven
tapestries are designed and made.
